Wooziness

What else can I do without regret?
Danger strolling here and there
For fear of slipping into trouble
I'm trapped in a safe shelter.

What else can I do in exigence
When existence is at stake?
Really can I face the music
When dirge forgets his brake?

How selfish I am in this abode!
I call on death for my hush
And I think only of me and mine
Is it serious or farce?

Now I want to sleep without distress
Next to the sleeping corpses
In their sleep I'll whimper to their ear
‘I was proud of our progress.'

‘Is it enough what you had left there
For your generation next? '
This query by one of the sleepers
Then goes to its endless rest

In such a panic moment, a cry
That breaks my death reverie
Moaning from the next door informs me
Ready for cemetery

How quiet there, but deep depression here
All are waiting for the end.
Don't remember we're all fighters
And we've to fight and defend?

Maybe one day this storm will get tired
Will the old dove find its land?
Will life stroll here and there as before
And safely back to homeland?
