Words On The Mermaid's Chest Poem by Martins Akhoeneto

Words On The Mermaid's Chest

O’ ye stack and golden toothed barracuda of east-doom
Shadow itches of pride in tentacles in dark storm
Hundreds of hefty fingerlings at sunset
Carrying sour milk and cakes with coarse bracelet
Her bossom clothes in rings of heavy drums,
Clinged in white and oval crispy pebbles,
In caves at nightfall, fair lame
That squashy spell in midnight’s dream
Come, once and twice beneath my wooden gate
What innocent torture you gladly swallow, inspite
Treacherous bestowals at your little fins
Soaked in red strand and beautiful caskets
Coal-red eye of fury with fused temperament
Out in ovule, in cymes.
Far, far beneath.
