Worthless Wait Poem by Swathi Harish

Worthless Wait

Mom, should we not send him a blanket,
What if it is cold out there?
His box of toys, have you seen it?
If lost, he can't bare.

Mom, why are your eyes so red?
Were you crying today?
Dad has not yet left the bed,
Is it a holiday?

Mom, when will janu return,
I miss my dear dog,
How deep did his paw burn,
That he is gone so long?

Mom, did you lie that he was sick,
And what is heaven's gate?
Can I never feel his friendly lick?
Is it a worthless wait?

Mom, I wish I kissed him goodbye,
Before he left us all,
I wish all this was a lie,
Or from heaven he could call.
