Wounds Unhealed Poem by Tiya Sen

Wounds Unhealed

Rating: 4.0

Some wounds can never heal.
Time just digs into them deeper.
Their scars don't even show,
as their existence only you shall know.
Even though each breath that fills your chest is real,
The heart just can’t feel anymore emptier.
You slowly learn to live your life with such a bruise.
Every moment paying for all your smiles’ dues.
As days turn into months and months into years,
You slowly run out of all your tears.
Your eyes become more vacant than your soul,
Getting past each day seems your only goal.
Eventually, your wound begins to rot and decay,
Yet the life in you does not refuse to stay.
Death too fails to oblige you,
From giving you a chance to start afresh and new
