Year's First Snowfall Poem by Anders Lim

Year's First Snowfall

Open my eyes
and yawned once or twice.
Blankets unfold, as I
felt a slight chill and sighed
loudly. Again. Yet another
day passes after each other
without meaning whatsoever.
Drawing back curtains filled
with the sense that chilled
me down to the spine.
I knew this day was mine
when I saw the flakes fall,
like nature's call
down to the ground.
Without a single sound,
I ran out the door,
for it served as a cure
for the pain I have felt.
Along with the snow it shall melt
into the ground yet once again,
for the conscience in my brain
has been the only guiding light
to the never ending troubles in sight
for me. Laying on the white
ground, my soul took flight
and soared above all
the troubles that I can recall.
I can finally relieve
the load! Yes! I believe
that there is alway a way
to return on track when life leads you astray.
This first snowfall marks a new
person of subdue.
Yes, me! I can finally grasp the real
meaning of success! My soul was healed!
Yes! I no longer have to hide
Because no one can steal my dignity or pride!
