Yearbook Photos Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Yearbook Photos

Rating: 1.5

Sit on the rickety stool in front of the backdrop
brush your locks one last time and smile
squinting and squirming as the photographer
fiddles with camera and lights
until he gets it just right!

The other kids in the class stand in line
waiting their turn for that sophomore
mugshot that will follow you the rest
of your life...

'Isn't that Minerva Carp, the goofy girl
in Mr Duffy's class? Remember her? '

Fat chance some talent scout will look
at your photo and exclaim
'There's the one we want! '

Fat chance, indeed!
