Yearning.. Poem by hari kunisseri

Yearning..

I placed a boulder on my heart
waited for the days to pass,
which words is it that we should say,
to keep the pangs of
separation at bay,
which music is it that we should hear,
to ebb the flow of our tremulous tears

A promise to myself
I made
to come back
to this familiar place
the urge to see the
toll of time
revisit the memories
that were mine

With heavy hearts we parted ways
taking along the ache and pain
i yearned for her to be with me
together
places to be seen
hand in hand
we would have tramped
to every nook that
i had planned
joined by laughter
totally free
unbelievable intimacy
likened to a beautiful song
heard,
rewound
then sung along

Alas,
it was never to be
i knew and so did she
though forlorn
our bonds were strong,
I goad now the weeks to melt away
come then the moment,
our pulses race
hearts pound,
happiness abounds
in that joyful embrace
awash with
our love and deepest care...
