Yearning Poem by Sheri Green

Yearning

Lightning flashes bright across the dark night sky
And the thunder resounds its rumbling sound
As the tempestuous storm approaches nigh

Soft rains begin to shower the barren ground
Coaxing life from the garnered seeds still sleeping
From the Winter's cold wind that cast them earthbound

And I gaze long into the darkness creeping
Wishing you could be with me here once more
So I could crawl into your arms safe keeping

In your absence I feel lonely and heartsore
For you are still the one that my heart adores
