Yellow Flowers Poem by James Meaney

Yellow Flowers

yellow flowers for you
A beautiful smile for me
Talk to your parents
now were off on the street
To the restaurant we eat, then
ice cream at Mickey D's
stop at a frozen pond
talk to bird's and duckies
Across the town
to the movies we go
were friends, but you don't know
that my heart will jump out
and freeze like 32 below
This movie is not romantic
but our hands embrace
We feel this ironic
but our feelings are strong
and it's a closed case
Step from the door to the car
and the car to your door
To the look in your eyes
you make my heart pore
I know this is a sure thing
that you are mine
and i am yours
The moment is silent
as our lips touch
