Yellowbilled Kite Poem by Diana van den Berg

Yellowbilled Kite

Oh, the
sweet,
sweet
savouring
of
free
swirls
and dips
and, thermal gliding
on outstretched wings
in a painting’s
August home-coming
celebration.
.
The three predators
whose rifleshots
from vastly different directions
came in fairly
quick succession,
way
down
below,
are already on the prowl
again
for more naïve prey.
