Yes Buddha Had A Great Gift (Bussokusekika) Poem by Edwin Tanguma

Yes Buddha Had A Great Gift (Bussokusekika)

Yes Buddha Had A Great Gift (Bussokusekika)

Words inked on the page
As if from God up above
They touch peoples hearts
And make them feel good inside
Yes Buddha had a great gift
Did he write much poetry

It depends on who you mean by the Buddha. The Agama sutras in Pali are closest to words the historical Buddha spoke, and there are some pretty beautiful passages in there when the Buddha sits in a graveyard and discourses on bodily decay and suffering. As for the Buddha-nature speaking through people, Saigyo was no slouch at expressing the enlightening potential of real-life predicaments and passions. And when you get just a few lines into Milarepa, you will gain elevation at a rate that gives you vertigo..The Chan masters in the BLUE CLIFF RECORD give good examples of the Buddha-nature as a source of inspiration.
