Yesterday I Saw The Sea Again Poem by Shalom Freedman

Yesterday I Saw The Sea Again

It has been some time
I had forgotten how beyond everything it is
How it makes me seem so small to myself
How it inspires to thoughts of Mystery
How great how far how distant-
If God could make the sea
How can I pretend to know what God is?

It is all so beyond
And I am a little observer by the shore
So small
In worlds constantly swept away
And beyond any human feeling
Impossible to know and to dream-

The sea makes me so small
And God so great beyond Greatness
And all I know is nothing
And all I can do is wonder
Wonder why and how and what
All this really is
So great and so beyond me-
