You Poem by Wendy Murphy

You

It’s been a long year without you
Many mistakes I’ve made to forget you
Feelings I’ve tried to bury deep
Seem to always surface when we’re in need

If I’m dreaming, let me stay asleep
Always thinking, must I think so deep?
Never believing, what can I believe?
After all that we’ve been through

The pain I felt when you walked out my door
Left a heart I thought I could feel no more
I couldn’t live with you or without you
But I couldn’t stay home it reminded me of you

Your smells, your feelings
Never knew what I was needing
Just knew my heart kept bleeding
Until I’m numb to the core

Just when I thought I beat this
You came around and need this
My heart I thought that couldn’t heal again
Found you as my friend

If I’m dreaming, let me stay asleep
Always thinking, must I think so deep?
Never believing, what can I believe?
After all that we’ve been through
