You (A Love Poem) Poem by Sumali Nagarajan

You (A Love Poem)

Even at my first glance of you
You completely bowled me over
In search of that magical aspect
Over you I let my eyes hover.

You kept on intriguing me
Over me you were having an effect
But when I tried to put it in words
Sadly, didn't meet with any success.

On a closer look I found what mesmerized me
Just touched my soul & pulverized me
It was something about your core being hot as fire
And a completely cooled exterior.

There was something else too that caught my attention
When I observed the petals before they had opened
It was the shyness of someone first time in love
Tentatively opening, eventually getting bold
As my eyes moved from inner to outer layer
The mystery was unraveled, waiting to be extolled.

I tried hard to describe you
But a picture says a thousand words
A poet, even though I am known as
Alas! I am the one who is short of words.
