You And I Poem by Michael J Williams

You And I

When You were just you
And I was just me
Life was dull
Or so it seemed
When You and I
became as one
I thought the world
had come undone
For when we two
Became as thus
You and I
evolved to us
When we evolved to us
the babies came
We were us… and children plus!
Our life was grand
Until your last breath
… and I was just me again
Now I wait for death
