You Are... Poem by Lingam ajji

You Are...

You are not a ball of flesh,
A piece of cheek and bone.
You are that beautiful day,
When the summer sun shone.

You are not a color,
Black, white or brown.
You are a palette of wisdom,
Hard to put down.

You are not an age,
A number or a wrinkle.
You are the star in the night,
With brilliance you twinkle.

You are not the weight,
That determines your might.
You bear the warmth,
Of a feather, so light.

You are not the silk,
Flowy wool or leather.
You are the may flower,
That refuses to wither.

You are not the diamond,
Blinding people's sight.
You are the treasure,
To steal, may try one might.

You are not a friend,
Playing pretend.
You are the tear of joy,
To which, come may no end.
