You Are Filament, Reticence Poem by Dennis Ryan

You Are Filament, Reticence

Saturday morning, November 19,2022 at 7: 31 a.m.

You are filament, reticence. I hardly know
What you're thinking. I know what you're thinking.
What exactly are you thinking right now?
I look into your face, your eyes, and your
Eyes open wide, look deep into mine, consume,
Then look quickly away, avert, to avoid
Furthering that feeling. That look of yours—
Did such thin, fine, translucent thread,
Double-triple-quadruple stringed ever
Exist before in human thread? You tell
Me. You look. You bite. My crimson
Blood tastes sweet, good in your mouth.
I am your smaller fish. And yet, unknown
To you yet, as you are yet to find out, Big Fish,
I am the bigger of the two though you disguise
Your feelings—out with them! —not too well.
