You Can Blame Anyone You'd Like To Poem by Raymond Farrell

You Can Blame Anyone You'd Like To

You can blame
The Chinese or the Mexicans
Or anyone you'd like to
Of course they
And numerous other countries
Welcomed factories
From Europe and North America
And who wouldn't
If they were in their position?
You can slap on
Tariffs and duties and penalties
That may work
In the short term
But sooner or later
The underlying deficiencies
Of the education system
And a population
Increasingly unwilling
To take individual responsibility
And conditioned to expect
The government to provide for them
At a time when governments
Are heavily indebted
Will result
In the break down
Of society and social order
Don't kid yourself
Government can't keep spending money
They don't have indefinitely.
