You Did It Poem by Danielle Beechum

You Did It

Rating: 4.0

You did it…..
You broke me…
Body lying lifeless on the earths wet crust
Cold, empty, destitute
Heart trampled by pedestrians
Soul lies amongst litter and debris
Dignity swept away by an icy breeze
Mind washed down the street into the gutter
Courage picked up and put into the pocket of a complete stranger
You did it….
You broke me…..
I seek not pity, for I have only myself to blame
As I lie there, lifeless, body riddled with shame
I seek not a helping hand…
I seek not vengeance…
I only pray for restoration…
You did it….
You broke me….
Now I lay strewn over this lonely road
Awaiting the moment my strength would resurface
Waiting for my essence to introduce itself back to my body
Hoping that the evil that penetrated me would recede
Waiting for you to stop hovering over me and leave
You did it….
You broke me…
I am not a woman, but an ignorant child
I am not beautiful, but a hideous beast
I am nothing…..but my life has yet to cease
You did it…
You broke me…..
And now my spirit glides through the streets
Confused….pathetic
Searching for all the pieces
I pray….Dear God! ....I pray, do not let her find
Fear, ignorance, weakness, naïveity….and most of all trust
Those pieces I no longer need…..
You did it…..
You finally did it…..
You broke me…..
