You Don't Change, You Adjust Poem by Lacie Hebert

You Don't Change, You Adjust

You don't change, you just adjust,
Shift your lies to keep my trust.
You say you're better, but you're not,
You just hide the shit you got.

You say you're honest, but you bend the truth,
You say you're loyal, but you pick and choose.
You say you're healing, but you're still hurt,
And I keep bleeding through your dirt.

You don't change, you adjust,
Just enough to keep me stuck.
You don't grow, you just bluff,
And I still love you way too much.

You say you're trying, but you never try,
You say you're real, but you still lie.
You say you're different, but you're the same,
Just a new excuse for the same old game.

Maybe I'm blind, maybe I choose,
To see the best in someone who.
Keeps showing me the worst of you,
But I still stay — I always do.
