You Have Missed Out Poem by Korinn Theriault

You Have Missed Out

My dear simpleton,
This may come as a dreary topic for you,
But I must inform you of the possibility
Of missing out on such a wonderful child.
Your child's talents and achievements have far exceeded
Your dimwitted expectations for them.
Had you have been competent enough,
You might have realized your 'troublesome' child,
Whose birth may have been a burden to your reckless life,
Has far out done any possible thing a simpleton like you could imagine.
In the end you have lost any accreditation to their success.
Now labeled a sperm donor to this poor child,
You have lost your chance to teach them how life could be.
You made this child suffer hoping for a loving father,
Made them wait for you to be replaced by another man.
He taught your child well,
Since they are who they are today.
This charming, kind and intelligent child,
No longer suffers because of you.
I'm sorry sir, but you have missed out.
