You, I And Our Son Poem by Ulas Basar Gezgin

You, I And Our Son

Sometimes I feel I get bored
Since I feel that we read and write in vain
Who is reading what we write anyway?
You, I and our son.

There is an increase in the number of publishing houses.
A higher number of books are getting published, that is true.
Yes, more books, but who is reading them anyway?
You, I and our son.

We have sore throat, almost muted as we shouted a lot.
Yes that is true, whatever we do is true.
But tell me, who would ever hear our voice? !
You, I and our son.

You see, again and again, we are left alone
When the barrels are pointed on us.
Those who complained a lot, where are they? Who are backing us?
You, I and our son.

If I wouldn't believe in class struggle,
With all this tone of pessimism,
I would end my life, as well as yours.
But I know that from an historical perspective,
You, I and a whole world is behind us, backing us.
