I read that a species of shrimp is the loudest animal,
that they can create a sonic boom
so loud you can't even hear it
but it can still stun you to death
and that's how they catch their prey.
I often think about how funny it is
that such a small and seemingly defenseless sea creature
could cause so much damage
and how no one would think it.
I find myself often wondering what it would be like
to hold such a secret weapon
so I could be fragile and beautiful,
but still be tough enough
to take you by surprise, if need be.
Much like the Tiger Pistol Shrimp
I don't want to seem dangerous
and I don't need you to know I am
so you'll be shocked into silence
when I finally let you hear me sing.
