(just entered the house) Oh, hey, baby. It's… what, twelve am? You should be asleep by now. Gotta make sure you're well rested for work. (pause) Are you sure? I thought it was on your calendar that you were working today, but, whatever. Do you need something? I would like to go to bed some time soon.
(chuffs a laugh) What're you talking about? It was a meeting for work, I already told you. It's as if all my words go through one ear and out the other with you, huh? (mimes something flying over head) Fwoo! See, that's my words, going right over your head, never being comprehended. It's alright, sleep'll probably help with that. I don't know if it'll help with your face though- ha! Whatever, whatever. Let's go to sleep already, I'm tired outta my mind.
What, you wanna talk? I don't feel like being pulled into one of your little fights right now, hun. It was a long meeting and Tom just went on and on about his little project. You know, you're ex-boyfriend? Awful guy, glad I saved you from him, huh? He never stops talking. He's like you, in that way, just blabbers on and on about meaningless things. (overdramatic) Hey, woah, calm down, you're being too sensitive, it was just a joke. (pause) Fine, I'll listen, but you gotta promise this isn't another one of your stupid ideas, alright? I don't feel like being your babysitter today.
Hey, simmer down, I can't understand you when you're being emotional like this. Just from your attitude I can tell you're overreacting. (shaking their head) I didn't answer your call because I didn't feel like dealing with your little games, alright? I don't know what kind of puzzle you think you're solving, but you haven't got half the pieces to make a full board. Whatever you think is going on is in your imagination. It's all in your head, alright? You're just tired. Sleeping will make this all go away.
You're going to tell on me, now? How old are you? And who would you be telling, exactly? Tom? Mary? They hate you! I see how they talk behind your back when you're not looking. You may not see it yet, but I'm the only one who's ever actually shown interest in someone like you. You should be grateful for everything I've done for you- given you a home, a family, everything you should want. I've given you everything.
All of this? This imaginary betrayal you've created? It's all in your head. (pause) I can barely understand you when you talk like that, you know. You're lucky to have me, because I doubt anyone else would be willing to listen to your fanatical fantasies.
Okay, go on. Tell on me, then. Who are they going to believe? An overly emotional blubbering child, or me. (pause) That's what I thought, now get to bed before you start hallucinating again.
