You, Me Or Us... Poem by Sara Jo Andrews

You, Me Or Us...

I watch you wondering if it is me you see,
Or if it is just the lust that blinds you.
I long for your arms around me.
Those three words you whisper in mine ear.
Are they true? Are they meant to last?
Or is that your excuse to get what you want?
Every time I’m with you a piece of me stays behind,
A part I can never get back.
Only when you are here do I feel whole.
Because you keep all the little pieces of me that are left behind.
Soon you’ll have all of me, what then?
What will you do with me then?
Throw me away?
Keep me and put me back together again?
Love is a precious thing,
See how you have all of my heart?
You captured me at my most vulnerable time,
Please say that you’ll stay,
I love you no matter what,
I need you regardless what I say,
I’ll always want you.
Please come and put me back together again.
Tell me you’ll always love me.
That is what my heart screams at you when you are near me.
Those words, those questions and demands
I could never ask that of you, it is not my way to do so,
So I sit here watching, wondering if it is me you are seeing.
