You must remain forever sober—
It's the only way
To walk the sacred path.
Lest you be intoxicated
By illusions' heavy veil,
That shrouds your inner light,
Turning you to lifeless clod of clay,
You must stay ever sober.
But how? Through gnosis—
Of unity and purity,
That flows like a clear stream.
Stay sober, especially when
You stand before the gates
Of the Divine Palace,
Or tread the green grass
In His Multicolored Garden,
Where truth blooms in silence.
In calm solitude, awake,
Do not sip the intoxicating wine,
Brewed from a thousand bitter herbs.
Instead, ask the wind, the wave,
The bird, the ticking clock,
All that hums and whispers life,
"What time is it? "
And hear their answer clear:
"It is time to awaken! "
To defy the soul's enemies,
Be sober, ever aware—
By the light of the Divine,
Rooted in unity,
Grounded in purity.
