You Said... Poem by beautiful imperfection

You said You would not give me
more than I can bear,
so why does it seem
like You've forgotten to care?
You said there's a light
at the end of this tunnel for me,
but I can't find it,
it's too dark for me to even see.
You said You would always be there
to wipe away my tears,
so why can't I get rid of them,
countless throughout the years?
You said that You
would never leave my side,
but I can't find You,
even though I've tried.
But Lord, I pray,
that You will prove me wrong,
and confim in my heart
that You were never really gone.
