You Say A Few Words Poem by Amber Zitzloff

You Say A Few Words

Rating: 4.5

you say a few words, then fall silent and wait for an awnser.

i stare blankly ahead, motionless.

you say it again.

i turn to you and blankly gaze past your face.

you ask what's wrong.

i say nothing only to turn and whisper everything.

i walk away.

you stand with a puzzled look upon your face.

i walk and walk. with no intent of stopping.

with tears streaming down my face, i walk on.

past trees with no leaves.

cars on the roads.

houses with warm, sweet smells seeping out into the violently cold outside.

little kids building snowmen.

past all things familiar, both big and small, new and old.

leaving you and everyone else behind.

you don't come after me.

finally, i stop walking and collapse in the heap of snow beside the road.

i can not feel.

i can not see.

i'm so cold.

my head is empty yet so many thoughts invade my mind.

too much.

i close my eyes and whisper good-bye...
