You Taught Me Poem by kirsten simons

You Taught Me

You taught me how to love
You are my first love

The long nights and days
That felt so short

The tears you held me through
As I cried on your shoulder

The Love I felt for you
When you held me in your arms

Every kiss was like the first
Every look was like the beginning

You taught me how to live
How to go crazy

The parties you took me to
Where I went wild

The passionate competitions
When we tried so hard to beat each other

You taught me how to laugh
With the endless texts

The unforgettable jokes
The embarrassments

But the one thing you never taught me
The thing that haunts me to this day

You never taught me how to forget you

How to fall out of love

My heart still beats for you
Until the day I die

My dreams are still for you
Only you

My mistake that ruined it
That ruined my life

I wish I could take it back
But I cannot

I apologize for the tears
For the fact I still love you

But true love is hard
And unforgettable

I loved you then
And I always will
