You Told Me I Was The Beat Of Your Heart (Sonnet?) Poem by Edwin Tanguma

You Told Me I Was The Beat Of Your Heart (Sonnet?)

You Told Me I Was The Beat Of Your Heart (Sonnet?)

I thought you’d love me ‘til the day I died
You told me I was the beat of your heart
I am here to tell the world that you lied
You purposefully tore my heart apart

I’ll not love another as I’ve loved you
I will not open my heart completely
Even if I believe the love is true
I guess that I will just have to wait and see

You are the lowest form of life on earth
I have learned a lot about life from us
Our relationship was not filled with mirth
Although in the end I’ll not raise a fuss

I know one day you’ll get your just desserts
And in that day you’ll learn how much love hurts
