You Were There Poem by Roland Houston

You Were There

When I was lonely and hurt,
you were there to help me through my pain.
When I thought for sure things would get worse,
you were there and made me feel so much better.
When I felt that all hope was lost,
you were there and restored my hope once more.
When I cried tears of sadness,
you were there and my tears became those of gladness.
When I thought I could never love again,
you were there, now im able to love once again.
When I felt used and confused,
you were there, to welcome me with open arms.
My feelings have so much more meaning, all because of you,
and now I sing and rejoice,
for there is no greater joy than to have you as mine.
It's funny really, the way I feel,
so much love and joy and care.
All for the single fact,
you were there for me, to help me through the pain.
