Young And Old Poem by Edwina Reizer

Young And Old

Those that are young do not understand
what it's like growing old.
How can they know what it feels like?
Their bodies are daring and bold.
The old have experienced so many things
and the young only a few.
The old know the joys of living
that the young wish they knew.

We've watched the foolish mistakes men make
and are weary from these scenes.
The young are consumed with bodily ways
and pop-culture magazines.
We've tasted the agony of defeats
and remember how that feels.
The young are competitive in their days
and content with fast food meals.

The understanding that they will learn
will only come with age.
They will leave behind their carefree days
and too soon approach the stage
of knowing what it's like to be growing old
and learning life takes its toll
on their bodies, their minds and thinking
and in the end, their soul.
