Young We Were Poem by Robert Beverley

Young We Were

Young we were, when passion flared
It grew so deep, this love we shared
Voices spoke, denouncing sin
We heard them not, love grows within

Journey, life, our mind the guide
The path is rough, you’re at my side
Friendship, family, love and fun
Precious moments, warmth, the sun

At times I know, we feel alone
Doubt besets, our mind, our home
Deny the fear, let peace descend
Now, forever, you are my friend

Since young we were, I’ve loved you true
Through joy and pain, and hardship too
We walk together, hearts as one
The best I say, is not yet come
