Young Yogi 1 Poem by Peter Long

Young Yogi 1

Rating: 5.0

"The good man who eats of the remnants of a sacrifice is absolved of all faults" Bhagavad Gita Ch3

HE GAVE HIS ALL FOR GOD AND COUNTRY 1966
Young Yogi
Felt so calm
He had surrender himself
mind and body
FULLY
To GOD and GURU
And was living the surrendered yogi life in the Guru's Ashram in Holy Pushkar
One Day
While walking around the Lake
he came across a tribal man relaxing by the water as the sun was setting
Dressed in many colours and smoking a beedi
This fine bad-mash was in town for the fair
The tribal had a radio shattering out the BBC World news across the motionless waters
The young yogi had never heard a wonderful radio before
What a fine invention was this
He asked the tribal gent
What is that?
Mata-chout… you are a fool... was the reply
(THIS IS THE WISDOM ((pointing to the radio))
Of
THE WHOLE WORLD
The Young Yogi's
Mouth dropped wide in amazement
And in his heart
From that day on; he lusted after radio of his own
To furnish his hut of renunciation and sacrifice
