Your Acquaintances Are Many Poem by Francis Duggan

Your Acquaintances Are Many

It is said of your true friends they are of the few
And this is not saying anything that is new
Of acquaintances you have many so many indeed
But you will only know who your friends are when of a friend you are in need
Though you think you have a few good friends in the town
You will only know who your friend is when you are financially down
In your time of most need your friends will stick by you
Feel lucky of friends if you have one or two
Your acquaintances every day you does happen to meet
They bid you good day on passing on the street
Your acquaintances in numbers by the day does grow
But it is only when you are in trouble your friends you will come to know
Your acquaintances are many why otherwise pretend
And feel lucky indeed if you have more than one true friend.
