Your Everyday Teenage Love Story Poem by Jennie Scheihing

Your Everyday Teenage Love Story

Rating: 5.0

I can see her standing there
So pitiful, so broken down
Alone in her sadness
Staring at the one she loves
So beautiful, so unwanted
Crystal drops of pain and sorrow
Poor broken hearted baby,
There’s always tomorrow
You can’t always belong
You can only fight for so long

Can’t you see that you’re killing her softly?
Can’t you see that her sparkle is gone?
Can’t you see that nothing else really matters?
Why don’t you see that she’s loved you all along?
And that she needs her heart to live
And that’s something only you can give
Can’t you see?

I can see her laying there
So ‘motional, so horribly small
Empty in her actions
Looking through the distant crowd
So pathetic, so confused
He left her in the cold dark night
Poor broken hearted baby,
Look toward the light
You can’t always belong
You can only fight for so long

Can’t you see that you’re killing her softly?
Can’t you see that her sparkle is gone?
Can’t you see that nothing else really matters?
Why don’t you see that she’s loved you all along?
And that she needs her heart to live
And that’s something only you can give
Can’t you see?

The love you shared was pretty and neat
Packaged up in make-believe
With little bows and lace and ties
Covering all the horrendous lies
Leaving you torn and bare
Ripped to shreds
In deep despair
But it’s finally time to move on
And realize you were better off all along

Can’t you see that you’re killing her softly?
Can’t you see that her sparkle is gone?
Can’t you see that nothing else really matters?
Why don’t you see that she’s loved you all along?
And that she needs her heart to live
And that’s something only you can give
