Your Ghost Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Your Ghost

You are being swallowed whole,
haunted by the ghost of you, of who you used to be.
Like a lingering abused child silently crying.

You must hug the child.
You must love the child.
You must apologize and forgive in entirety to the child so that it can survive until today.

Tell the kid it's gonna be alright.
And when you are feeling an aching sadness, remember you will be the ghost someday and the a future self is trying to reach you, trying to give you love.

To give you hope that it gets better along the way.
