The night sky stars all faded,
As the stay late moonshine jaded,
And the tick-tock clock marched onward,
And tears leaked from your eyes.
You looked into familiar faces,
Stamped upon familiar places,
And waited at the bus stop,
And watched the sun begin to rise.
Tomorrow’s roads ran wide ahead,
As you changed what you were saying not what you had said,
And carried your hopes in your teardrops,
As the noon sun scorched your ties.
You pause in awe amid sun setting light,
As memories of the past fade out of sight,
And reach your hands out for the future,
As fire flares across dusky skies.
