Your Song (A Dream) Poem by Weldon Davis

Your Song (A Dream)

Rating: 5.0

I just seen you in a dream
A song you did sing
Your song

You mumbled at first
Egged on and goaded by those
Who do not know
What you truly mean to me
Yeah.

As time progressed
Your voice became more powerful
-And-
Your message more clearer
Your song
Your message
That you are
Have been
Will always stay
A victim

After the final note was sung
You received
A standing ovation
(As always)

I walked outside
To get some fresh air
You followed me and asked
'Did you miss me? '
-And-
'Are you mad at me? '

Barefooted I trudged on
Silent
Saying a million things in my mind
Yet never giving voice to them
How could I?

My opinion is nothing to you
Compared to your addiction
Your addiction of helplessness
Of pity
Of shamelessness

Your song
Which you croon every chance you get
Your song
That I know all the lyrics to
Your song
I know unfortunately
By heart
