Your Sweet Meal Poem by Kofi Derrick Agbesi

Your Sweet Meal

Rating: 1.0

Yesterday caught me in another world
When I strode down the kitchen to quench my hunger.
There I heard your mum, our mum yell out:
'Son, your sister gives you this. Give it a taste! '
Oblivious to what lay in the covered white plate,
I walked down to discover what was in stock for me.
And taking off the China cover, I glinted on a meal so great.
A chicken here, salad there and a decent rice in between.
And I stooped over, gave every bite and cleared every piece.
Assuaging the hunger, I could feel my real existence!

Oh those sweet flavours are still clung to my taste buds!
And I'll keep on licking my fingers until those flavours die down.
Thank you, Sweet Sister for the honour done me.
Surely, I toast more years of success in your new marriage.
And extol mum for bringing up that lady in you!
