Your Verbal Fist Poem by Sophie Besselaar

Your Verbal Fist

What are you trying to do?
Hate me because I love you?
What is this that you're trying?
Laugh at me because I'm crying?
What are you trying to do to me?
Hurt me because I can't see,
Can't see you like this,
no mercy, just this verbal fist
Hitting me here, there, here once more
Punch again, oh that's four
But I won't surrender, no not now.
I won't because somehow
I still see the light at the end
Maybe you could still...be my friend?
No, who am I kidding, I am a moron
No, don't stop, just, go on
Hit me with your poisoned words
Yell at me and ask if it hurts
Curse at me like I'm the bad guy
Criticize me and don't you dare lie
No, words don't hurt as much as stones or sticks
Words hurt as much as a thousand bricks
Fist after fist i feel myself crumbling
It turns black and I hear myself mumbling
'Hit me with your verbal fist,
Do it again, I think you missed.'
