Your Words Poem by Emma Woods

Your Words

Rating: 5.0

I look at the fairy I once gave to you
I brush off the dust and she appears so new
What beautiful wings and a thoughtful face
Such elegant clothes filled with warmth and grace
I study her hair - the flowers surround her
I study her hands - the soft looking fingers
I see her smiling - her eyes gleaming wide
Just one look at her and I'm looking at you
I smile and remember the words you spoke
I'll never forget what we both had
You mean so much and it's hard to say
I miss you terribly in every way
Just to feel you hold me - just to hear your voice
Just to smell your scent - just to touch your hair
Just to speak once again with you my Nan
Just to feel you touch and clasp my hands
I understand how cruel life can be
I understand that you are now free
Years and years have passed so quick
Yet every day it's you I miss
Everything you gave to me - I keep so very safe
From your love to the crystals - in one special place
Your scent still lingers gracefully inside them
And from danger and harm - I shall always hide them
I love at the fairy I once gave to you
She looks back and smiles and I recite your words
'I can' you spoke looking me straight through
'I will' you said holding my hands 'and I'm going to'
You'll always be in my heart Nan xx

This poem as you can probably guess is about my Great Nan - Gladys Elsie Mansfield - she was so very special to everyone and I miss her terribly and on the night of which I wrote this poem, I felt her with me, holding me, comforting me - she was there and she always is. I love you Nan.
