Yours Poem by Emma Atkinson

Yours

Take my heart,
Don't let it fall apart,
Keep it for me-
It is yours,
All of it, yours.
Don't let it break-
It is my soul you take
And cradle in your hands.
Don't let me slip like grains of sand
Through your fingers,
Don't let the wind bear me away from you.
Linger.
Stay with me-
Don't let me fall.
You are my all,
And I am a helpless bird
Caught in the cage of your fingertips,
My fate sealed by the soft touch of your lips.
Don't let me go.
Hold me until the stars turn to dust,
Iron to rust,
My body to ashes,
But whatever you do, hold on.
Hold on, and never let me go.
This I know:
I am yours.
