Yulita
she is coming home
in bagong silang to claim
what rightfully belongs to
her as a birthright
the coconut land of her
father who never married
her mother who eloped with
a much younger man
in the village where the
sound of geckos outlive
the songs of the cicadas
the silence of the mayas.
