Za Za Zsu Poem by Jim Boone

Za Za Zsu

Soon after zit zapping
There came “Only, if I want you to”
I never settled for anything less
Than bright sparks and butterflies
Forgive yourself every day you live
Don’t even try to excuse yourself.

Was that meant as a eulogy rehearsal
Or a “Let’s do it (!) ” cheer?

My favorite quote reads:
“Plan as if you’ll live forever,
Live as if you’ll die today.”

Life was not designed for the fraidycats
The ‘meek’ will be ground into the earth
The brave will live and then fly away

It don’t mean a thing if it doesn’t
Call forth that response of “Za, za, zsu.”

2011

This one is for me and my friends, you and your friends:
the ‘few’ and the ‘bunch’, the ‘bold and the beautiful, ’
the ‘sleazy’ and the ‘sick, ’ the sweet and the caring,
the princes, princesses and the frogs.
