Zero Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Zero

When my heart called
I didn't follow
I put off my dreams until tomorrow
and gave others my coat
to keep them warm
and shielded others from harm
but all my deeds
they sometimes feel for naught
and in their vortex I got caught
and forgot the simple things
I once sought
Life really wasn't at all what I thought
and now its all feeling like nothingness
the people and things for whom I valiantly fought

A man might be written off as a zero
but he hoped to be someone's hero
