Zombies! ! ! Poem by Sam Fitts

Zombies! ! !

A quiet day, a peaceful ceremony,
The funeral of a respectable man.
He died in debt to his ex-wife’s alimony,
Living by himself in Spokane.
The family is there to pay their respects,
The children and parents crying.
A cry goes out, the body resurrects,
And it’s brains that he is craving.
He launches at his mother,
Tearing her arm off in savage hunger.

Seven minutes later, the police arrive,
But its six minutes too late, no one is alive.
The cops open fire upon the infected,
But the undead remain unaffected.
The ghouls reach the barricade,
Tear it to pieces and begin to replicate.
With the officers turned, they go on a rampage.
They tear apart civilians, sparing no age.
With an army of undead, they head for the city,
Four miles to go until they kill with no pity.

They reach their target, the smell of fresh meat.
Stumbling and moaning towards the unsuspecting,
They grab the nearest bystander and begin to eat.
The sight is actually quite nauseating.
A man steps forth, equipped with a book and trench spike.
He holds forth the text and yells, “Aim for the head! ”
The citizens grab bludgeons and begin to strike.
The attack ends when all the zombies are (yet again) dead.
Stephen Burgess and his Zombie Survival Guide were there to aid,
He hands them a bill, and says, “I expect to be paid.”
