Mother dear, you are close to my heart,
Close to my heart, we shall never part,
As your mother did to you, you shall do to me,
For we have something in common, we three,
...
The sapphire blue waves on the shore
Caused the seagulls to want to soar,
The evergreen trees waved hi
As the wind whistled by,
...
On and on the water raced,
Faster, faster, it quickened the pace,
Then suddenly, it flew up high,
Up so high it touched the sky,
...
Up and up the breeze flew,
Up to the sky, up so high,
This breeze you see, wanted to be somewhere,
Somewhere were no one would dare,
...
A furry ball of love,
A present from above,
It catches the mice,
That steal our rice,
...
(dedicated to my cat who was run over by the train near our house)
My loved one, I miss you so,
When I first heard the news, I cried, ” Oh no, it can't be true! '

I am a 12 year old homeschooled poet. My teacher/stepmom is Connie Crane who recently started submitting poetry to poem hunters. She says my poetry is better than hers! I came around to writing poetry because I needed extra credit in language in order to pass my 6th grade class. These poems are based on the wildlife I love and see often around my town, Sandpoint, a small town next to the fairly large lake, Pend Orielle. My family thoroughly enjoys my poetry. I hope you do too!)

Mother dear, you are close to my heart,
Close to my heart, we shall never part,
As your mother did to you, you shall do to me,
For we have something in common, we three,
We all share a closeness,
A closeness a mother and daughter were meant to share,
For after all, we two are a very special pair
