My Life

Ambitions - they say everyone's got one
And it must be fulfilled
I too have one
But, according to the world, it must be killed.

Why is money so important?
Even more than internal satisfaction
Its a good servant but a bad master
But those who believe it, only a fraction.

Does everyone proceed with a goal in mind?
If yes, then why isn't everyone successful?
I know they only want me to be independent
But their behavior, they should be remorseful.

I have chosen something
And I know its not bad
But I really don't know why
It makes them sad.

The past has already gone
The future hasn't come yet
But plan it now, right now
Or else your life will be destroyed, they bet.

Why not cherish the present?
Why not forget all worries?
But no, they compare me to others
'Look at your cousin, how he hurries'.

I know what I am doing
I am well aware of it
But they don't care
'Cos I am not enough 'fit'.

Why can't I just be me?
Why do I have to be tensed all the time?
I think I am grown up enough
And this life, its mine.
