You, with cat’s eyes - Puffy ovoids that narrowed In surprise, as if to say ‘We really are together, ‘Here and now.’ You, with well-developed bones - Stretched out in fingers And toes, reaching broad shoulders With quiet moans and little Loans of affection. You, with a cradle’s voice - It rocked in comfort It denied me choice - Lulled I was by an Unfamiliar charm. You, with flesh of pearls and salt - Touched so delicately Dry upon the lips Soft hairs like grains of sand. Yes, You once did share yourself: Eye Cradle Bone And salt.
